Dare to “Go Black”

“Take care of yourself first, you can’t pour from an empty cup.”

Fortunately, I have friends who encourage me to do good or eat healthy, quit smoking or don’t sleep late, exercise, be positive, keep my faith, etc. I have vegan friends too making me experience the best dishes out there without any meat and didn’t disappoint me on it’s being equally delicious. I’m lucky to have friends who practice what they preach. And they’re so encouraging. It teaches me to be conscious. Well, I am. I freaked if I gain a few pounds and will do things to bring my back my original weight.

However, there are just some stuff I can’t get over with yet but believe me I’m trying. I stopped drinking soft drinks (I have nothing against those who do) for 3 years now.

After giving birth, I got addicted to instant noodles, they are easy to prepare, and tasty too. Though thanks to friends again who made me aware of some facts: that they are low in nutrients and the MSG (Monosodium glutamate), TBHQ (Tertiary-butylhydroquinone: its’ reputation being a threat to my health if consumed regularly) and the high sodium contents may literally have a negative effect on my health like increasing heart disease, stomach cancer and metabolic syndrome. So I refrained from eating instant noodles. I prepare my own, home-made ones if I want noodles, and I make sure there’s plenty of vegetables. Reference:https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/ramen-noodles

I limited consumption of fats when during younger years, I eat most of the fat especially in pork sinigang (tamarind soup). I also lessened my “patis” (fish sauce) consumption to be a little kinder to my kidneys. I was doing all these changes to encourage my late mother too, per her doctor’s advise.

However, there’s a lot more that I need to do and not do. And thanks to products like “Go Black”. It is a delicious drink that gets rid of the body’s toxins or anything unhealthy that we’ve consume all our lives. It’s a great way to drink and detoxify at the same time.

I encountered these bottles for the first time some years ago and since then, a lot have been drinking them since, they now have several shops where their products can be found and they sell on-line too.

My all-time favorite! =)

The process is unique, it is from 100% food-grade activated charcoal which came from pure and organic coco shells. Not the regular charcoal that we know of, they burn the coconut shells at high heat and zero oxygen allowing the steam and gases to open up millions of pores making each tiny grain a potent detox magnet that can carry 1,000x its own weight.

It comes in powder that doesn’t have an expiration. While for the drinks: Lavender tea and Minty mansi will last up to 2 1/2 months while Honey lemon can last for a month. My favorite variant is the Lavender tea which is the one that caught my eye the first time I saw their booth.

Just in case you haven’t tried it, by the way, it is not a laxative, not only it is a very refreshing drink when chilled, it is definitely healthy and I consider it as one of the best way to detox. =)

The following are their known declared benefits: bloat buster, digestive detox, good for hangover too, cure to indigestion, acid reflux relief, upset stomach solution, skin detox and you would be surprised, it can whiten our teeth too.

Price might have changed already.

KIEHLS Lip balms…<3

“I’m a big believer that if you focus on good skin care, you really won’t need a lot of make up.” ~Demi Moore~

Evolution of lip balms. Being a teenager, I have been exposed to a myriad of inclinations, interests, even a kind of culture and fascinations. During high-school, groups are divided by dogmas, beliefs and values. Even of choices of food. On the lighter side, as young as I was. Having girlfriends and boys, bugging you around. You tend to exert effort to look good and be as beautiful as you can be. A common ground among young girls. You learn to put make-up. Most of my girlfriends even sorted to hairsprays, like not being able to go out of the house without their hairs neatly fixed. Vanity. I am not that into make-ups, some even said they even like me better without it. Still I fell in love with eye shadows, I tried blue, green and even those that shines. I liked eyeliners too. And the liking, were soon gone. I learned to use mascara and curlers. Believing the tags and advertisements on enhancement. I also got away with it. What remained are these three: lipstick, loose powder and an eyelash curler.

My aunts reminded me to rest my lips from lipstick, afraid of ruining my lips, I learned about the importance of lip balms. Through the years. I learned to live by it. Like a rule of not doing without it. I already forgot the first brand I maintained. Then I switched to Neutrogena. And finally I found what suits me best. No after taste no greasy feel (which makes so uncomfortable) and even on cold days when lips were damaged and cracked by the cold, I found Kiehl’s.

2nd tube…

My first tube was from an aunt whos based in the US. And I liked it ever since. When they opened a branch in Manila (Greenbelt 5). I think I was one of the first 100 customers. And that was more than 5 years ago. Another brand was introduced to me and loved it too, it’s just that I remained faithful to Kiehl’s.

Thank you Bestie! ❤

Learning to love the other on top of the very useful lip balm. Useful because at times I get rashes or allergies on my face or neck or even arms. Applying the balm was a quick fix. It was an instant relief. The moment my first tube was empty, running to the store is so easy. I’ve got no intention of switching. And opted to use them randomly. Besides the non allergenic principle was applicable to me. I use them alternately. Creme de corps was a stand out and since I am not getting any younger. The wrinkle corrector is on my list.

Thank you Kiehl’s.  ❤

“Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.”~Marilyn Monroe~

Every girl that I know is a lover of shoes. I am! Girls (and even boys) would usually try all kinds until they get to find what is comfortable and what looks best on them in many different occasion. We keep pairs that we will use at parties, at work and for day time use. We normally keep pairs that look fabulous and pairs of styles which are our favorites. And we collect them and we select what’s best.

The most we can keep or for me personally. I have three pairs of each style. Flats. Heeled. Close. Open. I’ve tried wearing rubber shoes or sneakers too during my younger years and came a time that I no longer like them. And I stick to those that are most comfortable. I heard them say: “Show me your shoes and I will tell you who you are.” So I guess I’m a whole bunch of different personalities. I wear them per mood. Here they are:

Even if I am 3 inches taller on this, I am so comfortable wearing this. The shape of the heel is just so right and the combination of teal and violet in snakeskin texture is to die for.

Instantly fell in love with the color combinations..

Liliw, Laguna is best known for shoe making. The first on the list is Marikina. One visit to Liliw. Oh well, upon seeing this, the cut and the heel and the combination of red and violet. I definitely won’t go home without getting a pair.

Didn’t let this go when I found it from Liliw, Laguna. Shoe capital of the Philippines next to Marikina..=)

My all time favorite even if I tripped on this for several times already.

brown sandals
Favorite! ❤

There are times when I don’t feel like wearing heels. So I opted for a few pairs of ballet flats. I have pink, red and brown.

pink flats
Pretty in pink!

Boots aren’t normally used in our country. My take is, get the best wardrobe to match it and be cognizant of the weather. You don’t wanna wear them during Summer.

Very comfy!

Grenda thongs…

I am a Havaianas addict. Since it conquered the Philippines more than 10 years ago, I bought pairs at every chance. I have been meaning to try Grendha, but my loyalty to Havaianas has always been there, I even wanted to go to Brazil one day. And then I see this lovely pink and purple thongs from Grendha. And bought it instantly. I have been using it during laid-back days too, it is very comfortable because of it’s soft rubber material.

And because of frequent tripping off, I lately favored wearing flats. However, my feet (and legs) ache more if I’m wearing flats than wearing a pair with heels, I wonder why is that?

flats again.

Whoever said that Cinderella is a proof that a new pair of shoes can change our lives, is very witty. =)

“I am going to make everything around me beautiful – that will be my life.”~Elsie de Wolfe~

The campaign to “Go Green” is all around us. It’s like rewriting the rules and going back to the basics. Literally displaying our love for mother earth. Even at work, I am incorporating them at every chance.

For a few years from now, It’s going to be a strict requirement of every client. I am so sure of that.

A lot of cities in the Philippines are creating ways in fulfilling their pursuit to be known as members of the Green Community. Ours started to get rid of utilizing plastics last year.

It’s nice that there’s a higher percentage who complies and follow. There are Green buildings in the CBDs (Central Business District) already who passed International requirements to be one and has become the parameter among others. It is all over, even in chips, even in this bread called “pandesal”, a staple food for breakfast of Filipinos are now with those green leaves called malunggay.

I’ve been hearing a few fellow countrymen commenting (and complaining) on the absence of plastic bags in most supermarkets. They’re complaining while we’re on queue and I wanted to explain to them that they’re just still in their comfort zones, you know, the adjustment phase and eventually, they will appreciate the government’s move to get rid of utilizing plastic bags and use paper bags instead.

As a rule, it is BEST to bring your own eco-bag (or tote bag), for storing the items that you’ve bought. And you’ve help lessen production of paper bags as well. As both: Production of plastic bags and paper bags has their own specific downfalls. As study shows, whether the other is more advantageous than the other is still unresolved. So now, I have at least more than 5 different tote bags . =) I’m a girl scout remember? (–,) Either plastic or paper. I am more leaning to recycling.

At home, I managed to channel myself into that direction, I wanted to give my share in my littlest way, I have learned segregating cans from plastics from those that are recyclable and those that can decay in time. I orient my family to do the same, and since the air is something that comes in and out of our system, I opted to do general cleaning more frequently than usual. I can remember this movie where Jack Nicholson’s portrays having an “Obesessive-compulsive” behavior (no, I am not as OC as him) though I researched for products that are literally supporting the theme of “Going Green.”

I discovered ECHOStore (will blog about it soon) and Messy Bessy. Initially acquiring a lavender scented air spray which can also be sprayed on fabrics because I decided to discontinue use of those airsprays with too many unknown chemicals when I read their contents, most of which I could not understand.

I’ve come across Messy Bessy during a flight years ago, as a travel kit, it completely comes with an insect repellent, hand sanitizer, creme and a hand wash. I researched for it and fell in love with it instantly.

Initially, I got “The Little Warrior” out of curiosity. The reason behind the name is due to it’s being multi-purpose. It is a hand sanitizer, a disinfectant and a surface cleaner all at the same time. Good invention at a very affordable price. It is also very handy, you can bring it all the time.

The Little warrior..

And then I got the linen/ room spray. As expected,  I got the lavender flavor with mix of rosemary oil.

messy 1

Unintentionally, my camera captured the paint of my side table slowly erased in time creating a Shabby chic look. I love it!!!! =)

The scent is too gentle, you wouldn’t almost feel like it’s there. I don’t mind as long as it helped me enhance the air in our home which is mostly needed. Especially that we have pets (2 cats and a dog) and my mom is in her 70s already.

Linen spray..

I am getting the odor absorber and the laundry powder and the hand wash soon. =)

EOS – Evolution of Smooth…

“Your vibe attracts your tribe.”

The 3 pieces of cute EOS (waiting to be cracked!) were neatly placed in a pink glitzy bag prepared by my college BFF as a post – Christmas gift. I haven’t seen them yet and she was telling me that I am going to love them. My excitement was all over my face.

We have been for years continents apart and each reunion have been very special. She would always make it a point to have goodies for me and our other buddy during college. The Filipinos innate trait of thoughtfulness.

She was right, I surely did. She gave me 3 pieces in different flavors, one is in my wardrobe, one is in my pouch so I always have it at work (and when I’m not at home) and the last one is still unopened.

Waiting to be cracked! =)

Honestly, I have maintained my Kiehl’s lip balm for years. Originally, I was using Neutrogena balms for my lips while I was a student and I got used to it. Until, I got introduced to Kiehl’s when they opened their pilot branch in our country some years ago.

Now, I’m caught in between. Nevertheless, I am very grateful to my college buddy who shared with me some of her discoveries in the US. I am so blessed to have plenty of friends who are generous enough in sharing girly stuff with me like sisters. Truly a an enduring friendship. God bless them. ❤
