Tips to maximize your day during quarantine

For years, I have been already working from or at home. So when the news hit us of this so called quarantine due to COVID – 19 pandemic. It made little impact on me. I mean, I’m used to being home, I am even more comfortable and productive working at home. Most of the goals I set were done and I can even do things on the side.

However, little did I know that the lock-down is more of a discipline. I can’t go out to do errands anytime I want or need to. In our place we were only allowed to go out twice a week with a maximum schedule 5 am to 5 pm or else you’ll be apprehended, worst, if you’re out beyond that curfew, you’ll get arrested. So I am now feeling the impact which I thought wouldn’t be that big deal for me.

I’ve tried my best to be as productive even if all as in “all” of my projects were postponed, delayed and put on hold until further notice per se.

So I’ve tried and pushed myself harder to be productive most of the time if not everyday, it was tough you know sometimes when there are lots of new stuff to watch from Netflix. =) so I listed down at least 5 stuff to do per day on top of my daily routine like cleaning the house, cooking, feeding the pets, playing with them, gardening, etc. It’s a will issue actually.

I have also allowed those days when I was lazy head to toe, and its okay. Let it not make you feel guilty at all, as it’s practically okay to turn everything off and just reset them the day after. It’ll do you good too.

Being a freelancer, those are the perks I’ve enjoyed in a way, when no one is pushing you to your limits except yourself. So what I did as mentioned is I did a list ( which I always do) because its effective to me. Whats essential here is that you set your pace and schedule from the moment you wake up until that much awaited bed time.

So here’s mine and I’m pretty sure you can do yours too. =)

Life’s little goals:

  • Set goals

You can follow the “SMART” goals perhaps so as to make sure they are doable. This has been one of the principles I have been applying to myself for years now. It sweeps everything, that you will specify a “specific” goal, making sure that you can complete it in a scheduled period. It feels great once you ticked them off from your list.

  • List your goals and set a schedule (s) when to do them

Another strategy to put into consideration the importance of your goals, is by using this matrix. Follow them and it’ll be so easy for you to prioritize. =)

  • Set a work space (like a SOHO)

Though mine might not be this uncluttered because my ideal work space on top of my Interior projects due is a creative space for my crafting, it could be more of something like this.

You can dedicate a specific corner at home for that extra space for the tasks you need to do.

  • Prioritize on your list to include doing something you love, something that makes you happy

It could be like baking, crafting, sewing, cooking, read a book that you haven’t finished, grow indoor plants (they spread positive energies), clean up, do general cleaning per room, renovate, redecorate, you can do 5S (sort, set in order, clean, standardize, and sustain), you can practice yoga, bring the gym at home, there’s a lot on the list really.

As for me, since my mother passed years ago, I haven’t stayed long in the masters bedroom. Most of my friends are telling me to stay there, however, I am feeling this indescribable lonesomeness each time I recall my parents in that room. Early this year, it just dawned on me what my friend told me to spruce it up and convert it to something else. So I thought of converting it into a “Pillow room”. Someplace like a rest area, like right now, we are all sleeping there, like a place to hang out, read books, play games, and anything that’s relaxing to us. It’ll take time for me to complete it though I’m glad I already started it. My timeline to finish is before end of this year. =)

This is the color palette I intend to do with it. #tealyellowandpink
It’s actually boho themed. =)
  • Try to avoid distractions, or schedule it too

Yes, it is alright to say No if you must. It’s okay! =)

  • Begin with the end in mind, be result oriented and be excited
  • Schedule rest hour too call it a day

We might just wanna think that this is a necessary interim. That when everything return back to normal (I still can’t accept that this “New norm” is going to last a little longer, help me pray…) That after all of us gone out of our comfort zones and our resilience stretched to the limits, we will be able to realize what really matters to us. New interests perhaps. more inspirations and a creative outlook in life, a little shift here and there, for us to evaluate that we needed it this long to be able to realize how we want our life lived moving forward.

I am ending this one with a very encouraging affirmation for all of us. #wegotthis

Your Vibe, Your Tribe!

“Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see greatness within you, even when you don’t see it yourself.” ~ Edmund Lee

I have to refresh my memory growing up with artists at home. My father was an Illustrator and my mother was a Dressmaker. I have an uncle who was a Painter too. Some of his paintings are still on our walls up to this time. I have high hopes to find some of my father’s works online so I can include them here.

They’re all gone now, and all I have is the legacy of their love for the Arts. And I have this deep desire to focus on Women Artists whom I’ve followed all my life and inspired me significantly like my parents did.

When Social Media came to flourish some years ago, I was able to create albums without the need to print them out and I see them everyday, add new ones to each album, it gives me a kind of happiness just staring at them.

I’ve been a follower of Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keeffe, a certain Victoria from Instagram, Romi Lerda, and some local artists too like Pacita Abad, Heart Evangelista, Solenn Heusaff to mention a few. I found this old lady in the internet and she is so inspiring. She is Agnes Kasparkova, she is already 90 years old, paints beautiful flowers on walls of houses in her village to pass time.

Personally, I’ve known a few, would not even complete the fingers in my hand. And each time I encounter them, I felt joy and pride to claim that they are my friends! =) As Edmund Lee said: “Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see greatness within you, even when you don’t see it yourself.”

I think the world is a beautiful place because of all the women (and men) artists in the whole world. We must be so lucky to have them existing in our lives. Evoking so many emotions in me (in us) mostly are the “feel good” ones. =) The world is a better place because of them. =) We can only be grateful all our lives. Here are some of them:

I met Mama “E”, that’s how I call her, virtually. She was introduced to me by a friend and since then she has helped me a lot in different ways. Mostly about energies, given out in the most positive way. She is a Photographic Artist, a Spiritual Medium, a Healer, Professional Astrologer and one of the most poignant Writer I’ve ever known. You can see her works at:

“The Colour Purple”
Title: “My Anodyne”
One of her beautiful works…
And another…
We also shared devotion for the Holy Mother.
And out of this, I found myself writing this simultaneously. Out of love and admiration.

Beth’s turf in painting is the most difficult medium for me. The watercolor. She actually did one for me. She also is a professional make-up artists making beautiful Filipinas even prettier. A mural artist. She’s good at Paper cutting too – the art of paper designs. Currently, she is busy making soaps out of organic products. You can check those hand-made soaps at:

She makes sure she’s at her best doing her craft.
Sunflower! =)
While this is the one she did for me. =)

We were still in college when Elaine’s works are one of those that really stands out. Hers is always jaw-dropping. She’s great in vivid colors and very imaginative. She joined and won contests then. Some of her works are these:

Her oldest colored pencil.
This so amazing as this was done on wood.
Her second to the oldest oil on canvas.
Very recent in Conte crayon.

I admire women painstakingly creating things like Liza is doing. This is just a hobby and you wouldn’t believe it, she got tons of orders and earning huge from it. =) Check her out at:

One of my favorites in her collection.
Her ID badge laces. =)
Those so pretty blings!
Look how neatly she stores her beads.
Awesome mobile phone cases. =)

I truly embrace myself being an artist in my own rights through them. They have been (and all the others out there) my daily inspirations. So deep that it allowed me to find myself. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. =)

And below are some of mine. =) #beadedstuff

Sex Symbol! (–,)

Had so much fun doing this. =)

On Purple Wings

Respond to every call that excites your spirit. ~ Rumi

I sometimes explicitly wonder why I see things so differently. Like for my topic this time. It’s all about Sex Symbol. Nope, I’m not referring to those sexy sirens whose body have been the envy of so many. Something very common but goes unnoticed piqued my interest.

It is the effort of some establishment to creatively present these “significant symbols”.

I just took photos of unique symbols of the female gender. A clear sign of creative juices coming out from nowhere that were normally overlooked.

You could just imagine how much I am drawn with the uniqueness of each symbol and will strut my way out to take advantage of opportunities so id be able to take photos as if some would see me I am sure they would see me weird taking pictures of the comfort rooms’…

2015 – The year that was…

my year ender

2015 was a year full of choices. Good and bad. Of writing from the heart. Of discovering new realms. And knowing where it’ll lead me.

hello 2015
In full anticipation…

It was a year of ecstasy, and disappointments. And just like everyone else’s, it was a year of laughter and tears.

It was a year of stalwart friendships, of realizing whom and what to keep, and what and whom to let go.

It was a year of reuniting with old souls which reminded me of who I was. And working out hard not to forget that part of me.

It was a year of violet crumble, tassels, peacocks and fairies and walkers and figure out what weapons to use and shabby chics and bohos too.

This is God speaking to me..

It was a year of acquiring new friends and being grateful having them despite of distance and race. It was cool to discover new people having the same beliefs, aspirations, just to know they have a lot of common with me. Even if I haven’t met with them upfront.

It was a year of reuniting with true friends long gone. And family bonding. Of creating memories instead of fabricating fears.

Where’s Ash?! =)

It was a year of figuring out what Oscar Wilde wanted to express in De Profundis because one way or another, I had the same anguish for regretting something I did which time could never erase. And papa making me see it in my dreams several times. Of remorse and making – up for it at every chance.

Let go and let God…

It was a year of knowing about Padre Pio, and making simple dreams came true, while dreaming again to fulfill new and bigger ones soon.

I am what I love…

That in every dream, is an ounce of patience for me.

It was a year of loving anyone, in any form.

My babies..

It was a year of discovering beauty in the most odd places. And of dancing spirits.

It was a year of rejections, yet, of acknowledgements from the most unexpected souls.

And for that, it was a year of maturity that is supposed to be there years ago.

For most of us, this year were full of surprises, challenges, griefs and bliss, unexpected moments that will either make or break us. And just a reminder to myself and to all my loved ones, to let those make a better person out of you as it did on me.

See the beauty in everyone..

More so, it was a year of several “letting go”… because I wanted to go back to the basic of a simplified life. No more or less drama perhaps. Because I firmly believe, this very amazing life is supposed to be light and happy and grateful. And so I learned to forgive. I let go. And hope. Because it is eternal.

And so this 2016, I’m striving for it. It is my duty and in every aspect, I need to be.

Sweet victory for Pia – Miss Philippines bagged the Miss Universe’2015 title! =)

Miss Philippines as Miss Universe 2015 – Finally!!!

I could not contain being ecstatic when Ms. Pia Wurtzbach won the title. Despite of that famous, huge blunder by Steve Harvey. In fairness to him, I admire him for correcting his mistake immediately, if they will retract it at a later time, they would have spelled trouble and the integrity of this award giving body will be at stake.

My overwhelming happiness for the ever-confident Pia Wurtzbach’s bagging this year’s Miss Universe title, it’s been years, almost my age, through the years, these are the countless reasons for such joy:

1. I am a Filipina

I am by face and by color…(–,)

2. I am personally hoping for every representative to get it since Filipinas are known for their beauty, uniqueness and intelligence

3. I was a fan of Ms. Miriam Quiambao – Miss Universe – 1st runner up 1999

4. Back in my teenage life, I was motivated by my relatives to join pageants. And had I grown taller, I could have tried my luck. This is because an elder cousin of mine then won the Ms. Maja Philippines and she was a runner-up of Ms. Student canteen too. They wanted our batch to achieve the same, they asked me to have my teeth on braces, they taught me to exercise a lot, they made me practice to smile all the time, chin-up on pictures taken, to get used to wearing stilettos, etc. Unfortunately, my height at 5’2″ stopped at that, I honestly felt disappointed with myself for not living up to my clans’ expectations, that’s why for every win, and for every contestant whose color is like mine – copper skinned or mulato or in our native language is “morena”. I had this pride inside too. I felt such happiness for that woman and for the country itself. Perhaps, all Filipinos are looking forward to competitions joined by our fellow countrymen.

5. I could not forget Charlene Gonzalez’ wit (she landed top 6 – Miss Universe 1994) of answering a question thrown at her with another question. Very witty. It taught me to think in depth. The question went like this: “How many islands are there in the Philippines?” Her answer: “High-tide or low-tide?” And the crowds were cheering after that! She was also able to answer the numbers. Such a display of intelligence.

6. Wearing a crown is naturally every woman’s dream right? Giving pride and honor to your loved ones and to your country. Such happiness knowing that you’ve got people or fans who believed in you.

And since the Miss Universe crown have been quite elusive for the country, the last one it was won by a Filipina was in 1973, I was only a year old then.

The first we had it was by Ms. Gloria Diaz in 1969.

When through the years, there were times that we were almost there.

Ruffa was a sure win then. We were still in college and we wished that she join pageants as she got it all to win. Courtesy of:

Year 2010, Venus Raj, set the parameter. She landed on the top 5.

I think Venus set the parameter. Or sparked the passion sleeping for years. Courtesy of:

After a year, I thought it’s time for Shamcey.

And Janine’s.

Janine Tugonon took my breath away. She landed first runner up – 2012. Courtesy of:

Then, Ariella made it to the top 3 – Miss Universe 2013.

I also thought it is her time. However, that yellow gown got a very low score. Courtesy of:

While I loved the Sarimanok theme (or is it a peacock) of her national costume.

Mj made it to the top 10. I looked up at that time to the delegate come 2015.

Mary jean Lastimosa made it to the top 10 – Miss Universe 2014. Courtesy of:

There was even an issue that a group were banning Filipinas to join Beauty pageants. When they thought it ruined us per se, the more that the world or perhaps the universe took notice of how beautiful Filipinas can be.

And finally, Pia’s victory is the sweetest. And the most controversial too due to an unanticipated blunder.

Finally! Photo courtesy of:

For 5 straight years, we landed on the top 10, top 5 or even top 3.

I was personally hoping for them each year. Regardless of what was lacking. Maybe a stroke of luck will do. And prayers. Since they ended up as runners-up, I just thought it is not yet time. Every year, every Filipino was full of hope.

And what makes Pia’s win more memorable is her attitude and grace while that huge blunder occurred. She was concern with Miss Colombia, very careful and yet, the winning spirit and grace had always been there. For the 2 girls – it was definitely grace under pressure.

I remember her telling Manny Pacquiao (when he lost a fight to Floyd Mayweather ) that she will recover the loss or retract said loss and wait for the Miss Universe pageant where she will represent our country.

It occurred to me that she visualize this as I watched her previous interviews prior to her winning, she is literallyconfidently beautiful”! And for what it’s worth. She did her bestest best for this fight. What is meant to be, is meant to be. Her winning is meant to be. Congratulations Ms. Pia! you made us so proud! God bless you! =)
