Here we go again, to antonio’s! =)

The secret to living well is to eat half, walk double, laugh triple, and love without measure.

Tibetan Proverb

It’s my only son’s birthday, and this time, we choose to dine at: Breakfast at Antonio’s. When it comes to picking a restaurant to bring loved-ones, my first choice is Tagaytay. Name it, they have it. It also gives comfort that they have recovered in no time after the eruption of Taal Volcano earlier this year. Not only that, the pandemic took its’ toll on most food businesses, some even had to shut down.

And when it comes to these three qualifications of mine: Good food, service and interior design. Any individual will of course look for good food when it comes to choosing restaurants. Next then is service when every concern is addressed with a smile. And not only what pleases our tummies but our eyes as well. I’d go for interiors. What I mentioned above have consistently met by Antonio’s.

The challenge here is going there and how are we going to enjoy eating out in pandemic times.

It was a surprise that it took us longer to get there, given that it is a weekend, we still expected that there”ll be less traffic. However, Tagaytay must have been loved by so many, most known food spots are on queue. To cut sharing this experience short, when sitted, we placed our orders from their menu without the traditional menu. We were directed to their menu from their website so as to limit contracting the famous virus.

For my son, he got Beef Tapa in Soya Garlic Semi-Sweet Marinated Sirloin, Kimchi Fried Rice (mild spice) and some beans which he gave to me. =p

It’s funny that we consumed first, this Apple crumble while waiting for our food. As usual, it didn’t take them more than 15 minutes to serve all of our orders.

Jen took the Housemade tortillas. With seven different dips. Green Salsa, tomato salsa, cheese sauce, guacamole, red Beans, ground beef and Jalapeños.

And just in time when we finished it, to our delight, all of our food were served. My original choice would take 20 minutes to serve so I had to make a second choice.

Apparently, I opted for pizza and it was everyone’s favorite especially my son.

Meatloaf for Gracee. =)

Jen’s roasted chicken and fries.

This soup came with waffles.

We opted for their specialty juice blends knowing they’ve been using the freshest fruits from different farms in Tagaytay. And because we were having coffee at Bag of Beans after. =)

Look how elegantly they do their packaging. ❤

Please keep in touch for my next blog: Bag of Beans =)

Believe me, there are other sumptuous dishes in their menu and it’s really just a matter of choosing your favorites. All safety measures were practiced, there are sanitizers and tissues in every corner. And time and again, I fell in love with their interiors, it’s my first time here at Breakfast at Antonio’s. And I’m so glad I did. =)

From where we park, is this. All of their locations has this signature name at the back of the restaurant giving guests a good view of the Taal volcano.

The Antonio’s Group of Restaurants is a Filipino owned restaurant. Setting forth gastronomic experience to its’ clientele.

It is located at Emilio Aguinaldo Highway Barangay, Tagaytay, 4120 Cavite. You can contact them at:  (046) 413 0738.

Let’s go to SBARRO!

Let’s go to Sbarro!

“Extremes are easy. Strive for balance. ” ~Colin Wright~

Even eating pizza can be conveyed with significance.

So seldom our son would request something from me and his dad. And of course we had to give in to his cravings. Besides, young ones nowadays would prefer being with their friends instead of being with their parents. We have to jump at this chance being with him, just him. =)

son
You’ll always be my baby!

We gave him several options to have his favorite pizza: I recommended Uncle Cheffy, he was also thinking of Project pie and his dad thought of Yellow cab.

And then he instantly said: Let’s go to Sbarro! Oh well, we forget that he is indeed a Sbarro baby. Mr. Chicago white! =)

Then, off we go to the nearest Sbarro vent. As expected, he got his Chicago white and another slice of four cheese.

He’s havin’ this for years!

Tatty had supreme, the one with capsicums, mushrooms and pepperonis.

I had my pasta. Lasagna in white and tomato sauce. It came with a pepperoni stick.

With all the creamy and gooey and saucy and tasty kick, I certainly must have this. My regular dose of blueberries in a sweeter form. =)

Want some?

The only thing better than pizza and blueberry cheesecake is pizza and blueberry cheesecake with the people close to your heart – your family.

The attendants in Sbarro are very courteous, generous in their “help yourself” condiments specifically the freshly ground pepper and Parmesan cheese, they are great in up-selling too, on the other hand, theirs are good suggestions. They have desserts, the kind of which I favor, and greens too.

As I was placing my order, the guy behind the attendant was stretching a dough. And before I finished enumerating what we’re getting, the small dough is as big and probably that guy saw me as amazed, tossed the dough into air and I was like in front of a favorite movie, with my eyes glued on what he’s doing!  Hmmn. And that’s what you call – Eatertainment! We all know that theirs are hand-made pizza, which made it very authentic.

I must not forget, their iced tea is one of the best I’ve tried. =) I could gulped a full glass of it. My son even asked for another one.

s1
One more please!

As they say, when you have those that you love to eat, it really invigorates you. After raving for pizza, we bought dimsum to be brought home.

It was an inspiring fam meal. Like my doctor said, “No guilt please, unless you eat pizza or burger for breakfast, lunch and dinner on a daily basis. I will then be the one to call your attention! Life is more of giving into your wishes, and only you can make your wishes come true. But always, in moderation alright.” Thank you Doc, see you soon!

ps

There’s no guilt Doc! Even the pope loves pizza! =)

CALDA Pizza for my son… Southwoods, Laguna

Calda Pizza for my son…

“Mothers hold their child’s hand for a moment and their heart for a lifetime.”

My son had his ups and downs, this I could not deny, and at some point of his life, committed mistakes and were typically swayed by friends whom he thought are real and missed to maximize opportunities given to him by me and his father with the all-out and unending support of my friends and our family from both sides.

To my surprise, he enrolled himself to this Tesda institution providing courses in the Philippines at a lower fee. We can’t help but support him upon knowing, he used up all his money just to enroll himself and I guess it is a road less traveled for him. It is a 6-month course focusing on basic practices in the kitchen which is why he began infiltrating the kitchen with me. The course title is “Cookery”.

This school made him appreciate all the things that he enjoys. As it exposed him to some people that are deprived of things that are too ordinary to him. He learned to value things that he normally fail to notice.

Last Friday (March 27), was his Graduation day.

This one distracted me during the ceremony. It is so innate. It must be done by the artisans of Paete, Laguna.

grad
Happy graduation son! been a while to see you go up the stage! =)

It took us hours for the event to finish. Knowing my son too well. His patience is tried, ours too and it left us tired and famished and all too excited for the reward, his graduation dinner. His sister (only girl cousin), they’re three actually, one sibling per sibling, graduated too with honors.

Witness them grow-up. They will always be my babies…

Our unica hija!

gabes gift
Always an achiever..

Gabe ended her 7th grade as second honor. She’s the family’s pride, my son, was a bright kid too though more adventurous and didn’t look at academic achievements the same way we do, nevertheless, he is also our joy. He is a work in progress. A late bloomer if I may say.

His strongest point is his being sweet and forgiving and he is currently working out on his patience and retaliating back. He’s got this innate male ego. As his mother, regardless of his achievements, with or without, he is still my greatest blessing, he gave my life a better meaning.

He wanted to wait for the Graduation song as it is a very memorable song to him. It is what I used to sing for him when he was still a baby which became a habit. He actually memorized the song as we have been singing it for months., he would even sing it with action in front of us and we all loved that side of him.

Finally the rites concluded with that song and even if I can’t see him from where he is sitted, I knew in my heart, all the memories of our mother and son moment, he relived while the song was being played.

The last week of March is queued with graduation rites. We run out of reservations on all pizza parlors in our area. We were 5th on this certain pizza parlor and everyone were hungry so we ended up searching for open pizza parlors (it was already almost 10pm), on this village near Southwoods, Laguna. There’s a road there where restaurants were lined up and we finally ended up in Calda Pizza.

It was a happy feeling to bond with my In-laws. The happiness I felt came from my son’s smile all through this occasion. And from the genuine love we both conspicuously felt from the whole family.

Our pride and joy!

We were all hoping that my son will soon be ready to embrace and grasp life’s challenges that are bigger than him.

As for now, I can only be grateful for today. This is Echo’s favorite quote:

Sonya’s Garden…

SONYA’S GARDEN…

“Just living is not enough… One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.” ~Hans Christian Andersen~

It was always great to look back at times when you spend times with your parents. Especially to a bewitching place like Sonya’s Garden. It is one of Tagaytay’s pride if I may say. And I can not contain my excitement when I got there. The place transported me to a foreign place.

This used to be the focal point of the place..

Cabbage rose..

I was like a child taking photos from every corner. Of which the endless floating flowers are my favorites. There are lots of them.

sg edible
They say some of the flowers at Sonya’s are edible..

The place is scented, it was a natural sweet scent emanating from everywhere dancing along the soft blow of wind. I guess it’s coming from the flowers themselves and the leaves of every tree and plants surrounding the place.

sg2
I have been seeing these tiles in most places in Tagaytay.

You would not believe, some of the petals are edible too.

sg ripples
Sounds of rippling waters are so relaxing..

sg
Blue, indigo, violet.

It was just a day trip, but it’s worth it and I am certain this is not my last time to visit. I especially loved their food, some items from the “panaderia” which we brought home, and the soothing feeling I got from their spa. The sound of rippling water which comes from the glass panel windows during the massage session was definitely relaxing. It was also a surprise to see a bowl of flower when it was my turn to lie on my chest. Truly a breather.

sg
I actually wanna lie down here, though it has become a favorite spot for picture taking. There is already a queue waiting for their turns.
