How great design can make condo living cozy and homey. You have to look twice nowadays to attain quality that won’t hurt your pockets.

One of my client’s property is tucked in the quietness of West Conservation Avenue, NUVALI, Canlubang, Calamba City, Laguna.

Right at the corner of Evolving Parkway and West Conversation Avenue, and is just 500 – meter radius within reach of several equally developed villages, retail and institutional establishments.

Also minutes away from Sta. Rosa Laguna which is also a highly-developed town in the south, Calamba City, Alabang, San Pedro City, just 40 minutes away from Makati City and 20 minutes away from Tagaytay City. What more could we ask to be near these amazing places.

Location of which is certainly convenient and favorable to its’ owners bringing them within reach not only to their needs but also their wants. Work life balance per se can be easily achieved.

What more, within its’ walls, are amenities like: swimming pool, a Clubhouse, a Basketball court, playground and neatly-trimmed landscaped paths and gardens.

And when it comes to safety, all buildings were manned by Security 24/7.

It was a feat that my client and I meet our ends in finalizing the theme for her unit. She wants minimalist, however, I was able to inject some Mediterranean vibes which created balance in the end. And we both loved it.

For our color scheme, we both loved the calmness instilled by the Pantone Classic blue with touches of brown and beige coming from the natural colors of wood. Some splash of teal, lime green and lighter shades of blue to achieve tonal statements. And at the same time, a relaxed ambience.

Our Mood board. =)

My client opted to customized most of the furniture to veer away from pieces that are mass-produced. Hence, the assurance of quality craftsmanship has been carried out.

What’s exciting here is how we utilized a few vintage items (and when it’s vintage, it just doesn’t feel expensive, it is literally expensive too). This move added character and value to the property itself allowing occupants to enjoy some renaissance of sorts.

The careful choices we made for the lighting fixtures achieved our desired result too: Enhanced mood and a relaxed atmosphere.

Let’s take a look inside and let the photos per area speak for themselves. =)

Currently, there are increasing home owners that are consulting the experts because Interior Design is not just choosing the right patterns of fabrics, what furniture to use or what lighting fixtures is best for a specific area.

It is more of a collaboration between two great minds and coming up with what is functional without forgetting the aesthetics. It is realizing the essence of considering your space be taken cared of specialists.

And your wish list materialized. =)

Living in colors

Color is a power which directly influences the soul.

Wassily Kandinsky

For years now, I’ve been looking forward to PANTONE’s Color of the year. I recently posted in my Instagram, the color(s) they have voted for 2021, they’re actually two: Ultimate gray and Illuminating yellow.

Keywords:

  • warm
  • positive
  • friendly
  • subtle
  • thoughtful
  • sunny
  • happy
  • relaxed

You can utilize each of them independently, and you can combine the two as well, as they compliment one another.

I must assume that these colors proximate with what 2020 has been and with a hope and positivity to look forward for a better tomorrow.

The first time that they did this (2 colors in 1 year) was 5 years ago. Rose quartz and Serenity. They’re softer versions of masculinity and femininity. Blushes of pink and blue like those you see in a nursery.

The reason behind to come up with two is the response of producers to consumers of all genders. Bottom-line, equality. They wanted people to be comfortable with everyone’s preference.

Pantone Color of the year from 2000 to 2020

I have been passionate about colors because I firmly believe that emotions and colors are literally intertwined.

Studies show, they can give us feelings of joy and sadness, it can make us calm, it can make us excited, it can make our hearts beat faster which roots from environment, cultural perceptions, social media influence and of course, personal preferences.

Herewith is an Infographic of how Colors generally affects us and the varying emotions affixed to each. You will also see Big names of brands utilizing each color.

Personally, I feel such happiness when I’m surrounded with the colors I love. I also noticed that gifts coming from friends and loved-ones, even colleagues, are of those in my favorite colors, which gives them the comfort of knowing, I’d really appreciate the gift and the thought that they made someone happy.

Image may contain: 1 person

At any rate, if you ever dislike a specific color, it hurts your eyes, or affects your mood, veer away from it, so what I’m trying to say is just surround yourself with the colors that you love regardless of the trend. Besides, if you dislike a trending color, it can be combined with those that you like by referring to Color formulas and guides.

It is what I’d be discussing here, what can we combine with yellow and gray.

The Color of the Year set by Pantone is the leverage of most industries. As it is what stimulate consumers, be it in Fashion, Interiors, Food & Beverage, Cosmetics, Automobile, Electronics, etc. For some reasons, whatever color is dictated by Pantone, is being similar with Feng Shui’s lucky colors too.

Paint authorities usually follows the trend, they might come up with their own, however, Pantone is the benchmark of most brands. In Color Theory, they are divided by just 2 types: Warm and cool colors. Said types affects us differently, however, in general, this is how it goes:

Those belonging to Warm colors (Energizing) evokes feelings of positivity, energy and happiness.

The Cool colors (Calming) gives us feelings of calm, relaxed, at ease, although it sometimes exudes feelings of melancholy.

Applying color to our daily lives is a personal thing. It’s like surrounding yourself with people who loves you and supports you and whom you love in return. =) So what can go well with the Pantones’ color(s) of the year for 2021?

I will not be using words here, I think it’d be more exciting if we use our visuals instead so as to give us an idea what goes well with these color combinations.

No description available.

So, I think, we already have an idea what can we do to tweak these two and inject them in our own favorites. Have fun! I will really appreciate if you can send me photos of upcoming projects wherein you were able to blithely use these colors. =)

As for myself, a true lover of the color purple, It would really be easy for me, as it goes really well with yellow. So I’d still be happy, I hope you guys will be too! =)

Beautiful boho soul(s)

“ We are all Wanderers on the earth. Our Hearts full of Wonder. And our Souls full of Dreams. ” ~ Gypsy proverb

To meet someone living the life you wanted is not only inspiring but life-altering as well. It’s like you were directed to a path where your heart beats faster.

It was so many moons ago when I first met Ms. Evelyn. It was year 2008 more or less. Her Souvenir/ home decors shop is situated in her home at Tacloban City.

It was such a pretty place, there’s a huge lush garden, and if I remember it right, the items she sells are somewhere in the back area and I was able to purchase a few as gifts. One item I also got from her shop is this.

Must be that butterfly.

Getting a peak of the interiors of her home, amazed me. It was a combination of modern furniture and antique ones, a plethora of collection by an artist like her. She is a Designer too. =) She probably detected my sense of wondering and she invited me to go inside.

She showed me this massive antique wooden cabinet, which we call “platera” as a child (I just hear it from my parents and grandparents), it’s where we keep our dinner wares and flat wares and all those things you need to prepare the dining table.

However, the doors aren’t made of glass. It’s made of wood as well and with delight she gladly open them for me to see what’s inside. And to my amazement, it was a collection of blue and white ginger jars in all sizes. Each one prominent in its’ own. I didn’t dare touch them, I was just contended gazing at their beauty.

Something like this. #ctto

According to her, she accumulated them from her travels. Some are gifts and definitely most of them are categorized as antiques.

It reminded me of my cousin’s collections too.

Her house upon first glance is literally boho eclectic.

I do not know why I didn’t take pictures from her place, I only have her business card. But the vision of it stayed in my mind up to this very moment.

There were years in my life when I got addicted into scrapbooking. =)

It actually prompted me to let the energies flow inside of me and practically do what I love. And it is to proceed with my plan to create a boho chic home, or convert my parents’ house into a boho one, realizing that if I didn’t start right away, it’d really take me a while.

#ctto

I have limited resources, since most boho homes achieve its’ look because the owner probably is a traveler or a collector and the decors are accumulation of souvenirs from all her travels through the years. When I no longer travel so often, though, lucky enough to have traveler friends who gifted me with souvenirs from different places. I think, it’ll take me years to complete it.

Though the process itself is gratifying. Just ticking off one from the list excites me each time, like a lifetime commitment, this is what I want to do, and to not ignore even a single chance, Be it made by me, purchased, a friend’s gift, something I recycled or upcycled. An advocacy to save Mother earth by limiting build-up of land fills. This is what I wanted. That just by looking around from where I live, It’ll make me happy. And I have no intention of really being something else. This is my focus. Because from this, I’d be able to re-open my mama’s shop.

Anyway, after the pandemic, my priority is to travel. Again. =)

Just recently, I’ve found a virtual friend who resembles Ms. Evelyn. Time and again, It is astonishing that I met different people with the same hobbies or interests, and they are all truly inspiring. Meeting them personally and discovering their pages from Instagram.

Just like Happy Nest in the Tropics.

Honestly, when I first encounter her Instagram page, I didn’t expect that it’s in my country. It is so unique. If you go further, her home is the epitome of an artist’s canvas, the works of a bohemian by nature.

It literally spells happiness! =)

We were discussing things lately, and I told her that our taste might be eyesore to some, though for us, it is what makes us happy and keep up our spirits. And then she said, well, we are increasing. Which is apparently true, I have met so many friends in my IG account, the same circle loving the same niche. Before I was in love with Ibiza boho girl, The spotted zebra (which I recently featured in my blog: My 1 dozen most favorite pages at Instagram and true enough, it surprises me that I’ve been seeing those pages I follow are also following Happy nest in the tropics.

Look at those fascinating colors!

It gave me a certain bliss, that, Hey, I found my niche. ❤

As to why following them makes me happy. Their abodes are bursting with happy colors, stunning flares, like every corner is pleasing to the eye. Our pair of eyes. Be it brand new, vintage or antique, recycled, upcycled, name it.

So uniquely designed

Another thing that is truly inspiring with Happy nest in the tropics is that she appreciates and validates handmade crafts that are made locally. Which is a good thing as she is literally helping out these businesses. Empowering them to do more, create more, inspire and be inspired more.

Empowered women empowering other women =)

This ignites the fire to bring forth the talents and passion of creating beautiful things and share it to the world.

That part is my favorite. =)

Check it out and witness the boho chic beauty of her own heaven on earth, the good and magical vibes it radiate, and be excited like I am (finally found my tribe) to be motivated by her day to day pursuit to stay happy and creative, gleefully shared to remain connected via Instagram. =)

Happy reading my boho sisters! ❤

Tips on creating a breathtaking console table for your home

“Some people look for a beautiful place, others make a place beautiful.”

― Hazrat Inayat Khan

Hi guys! When I saw this console/ foyer table below, my mind wandered and randomly thought of some of my favorite things, it is so beautiful, and as a Designer, it buoyed me to take advantage of my blog site and share with you some tips how I came up with my own version of a dressed-up console table.

So here’s my formula for creating an eye-catching foyer or console table for your home. It is very simple yet dreamy.

During college days, the term “eclectic” refers to a collection of several items (in different themes) collated into just one design. Nowadays, it is referred to as Bohemian.

Since Bohos are innately travelers by nature. They mix and match varying elements that they’ve acquired from their travels and come up with a very unique and beautiful outcome.

And this is how I am going to do it in my own eclectic way. It is very relaxed and carefree.

I must not forget to mention that during my college days (early 1990s). Design principles at that time was a little stricter. You can’t mix something printed with another printed. Or not follow the color wheel in color scheming. While Color blocking since the past years have been widely used already, be it in Interior Designing and/ or Fashion industry.

People are no longer scared to explore and go beyond what is norm.

Now, or few years ago, designing has become more liberating. I can’t help but be soo glad that I can combine a specific print or pattern with another. Whereas, during my younger years, my attention will be called. Now mixing and matching is just so much fun.

Different pattern of wallpaper, different pattern of carpet, different pattern of sofa upholstery and that load of printed throw pillows.

You see, how we appreciate varieties nowadays. =) It’s so festive and perky. =)

Working on several Designs lately. I thought of translating them here. And I would have to start into creating a really pretty console table. That first thing guests would see, welcome them and where vibe will be extended to all areas of the house. Just like a good introduction when you’re reading a famous book.

Please note that the same principle can also be used on other areas of the house, as long as there is a blank wall. It’ll automatically serve as one of your focal points, catching everyone’s attention. =)

I’ll be limiting my list of requirements to just 10:

  • The console table itself
  • A painting, a clock or a mirror
(I’d choose two – a mirror and a clock in one)
  • wall sconce or a table lamp
    (I’d choose wall sconce)
  • A flower vase
Look what I’ve found from Anthropologie. =)
  • A scented candle in glass
This is one of my favorite scents from Voluspa.

  • Something useful to be lined with the vase and bust, I’m choosing a catch all tray
  • And 3 native boxes under the table
Berber baskets. =) Photo source: http://mydecorblog.com/category/room-decor/

Please remember that above doesn’t need to be brand new, try to check some of your old stuff at home, and I’m sure you’ll find some items to fill them in.

I’ve created below so you can visualize the finished product.

Hurry, give it a try! =)

So what are you waiting for? Be your own Designer now and create an awesome console table for your home. =) You may want to visit my blog from time to time for more Interior design tips! =)

Southbound Cafe

“It’s not just about seeing beautiful places, it’s about seeing the beauty in every place…”

I have been blogging about Interiors lately. And this blog I must say is more about Interiors more than their food offerings.

We spotted this new cafe in our home town, in San Pedro City, Laguna. You will find it on your right if you’re coming from Manila. Upon reaching the city it is just across the huge sculpture of the rooster. The landmark of my hometown. Which I think is a very strategic location indeed.

What bricks can do.
The car plates are kinda masculine for me.
I love it when there are paintings on the wall. =)
The ropes, gave the entrance a rustic feel.

So it is a fusion of rustic and industrial and a dab of little quirkiness. I think I have loaded my mobile phone with more than 50 photos in all angles, the place has a charm of entertaining you in an amazing way and now I had this dilemma of choosing what photos to include here. Whew!

So, please take a look.

I think this coffee mural is the focal point of the place.
Be that as it may, not until upon looking upwards, I saw this striking chandelier.
I thought this shade of orange might be too bright for a place, though they were able to balance it with a teal. =)
Waiting area.

If you want it quieter, there is an enclosed area, providing you privacy.

There is actually a certain masculine feel on it. Due to the different symbols of cars: mags, plates, wheels, car logos, depicting the owners’ “could be” hobby.

My car for years. =)
My soul sister’s car =)
Our car when I was a kid. =) #beetle
Did I miss Toyota? I think this one will do and he will really love this! =)
An Audi perhaps.

So let’s check their food. =)

Aww, look at those Chefs! =) And that Sto. Nino…=)
The muffins looked good! =)
There are home-made donuts too.
Tableas.
Theirs is from Allegro.

Info source: http://www.allegrobeverage.com

Honestly, I loved their coffee. =) Nothing spectacular with our pasta, though it met our expectations, and the nachos is okay, however, I rather see fresh tomatoes than ketchup like a real salsa. =(
You need not worry if the cake you choose will fill the bill. As they’re carrying a popular branded one. That famous maker of “Mango bravo” which is Conti’s.
So I instantly know what to get. =) The Choco overload cake. =)
I can’t ignore the fact that they’ve chosen a good color scheme. ❤
This fab bouquet administered a soft and feminine feel when masculinity is found everywhere. Nice move. =)

Nowadays, the loos are no longer left-out. Like there’s a match as to where is the prettiest loo. =)

I love the pebbles on the wall and that modern spatial lamp.
Look! We’ve got freebies too! =)

So I am agreeing to this quote. =)

There are other tempting dishes from their menu. So, definitely, we will be back. =) As for the Interiors. All the elements were finely doled-out in all corners. =) Good job!

Their address is at #87 Mabini street, San Antonio, San Pedro City, Laguna, Philippines.
