The Manila Creamery

The Manila Creamery

“Life is sweeter with Ice cream!” ~ unknown

I have been hearing a lot about this cool ice cream parlor for years, though I haven’t tried it yet.

For a country like ours, ice cream is definitely a staple. I myself, would scream for ice cream! =)

The Manila Creamery is an inkling of 2 Filipino Chefs who studied abroad (specifically in Italy) to specialized in creating ice cream or gelatos. What made it more amusing is the thought of combining the traditions from both countries (Philippines and Italy).

Our first visit was in Alabang Town Center, you know it’s always the nearest from my place. But they have branches in Vertis North, Glorietta, Malingap Central, and the newest of which is at SM Megamall.

The smiling attendant welcomed us sweetly and offered that we can taste some flavors and so we did.

I just noticed, I myself, being from the F&B industry, they had us tried them with washable spoons whereas for sampling activities such as this, disposable spoons should be used for safety and sanitation purposes.

I mean, most ice cream parlors I’ve visited who had me tried their flavors, are equipped with disposable spoons, usually, the wooden ones.

Anyway, going back to the flavors we’ve tried, we liked several flavors, but Jen, my foodie buddy was looking for her favorite, which is salted caramel, unfortunately, they do not have it.

And instead of figuring out what to order, we opted to choose parfait like these two traditional Filipino charmers. Jen had the Mais con hielo and I had my favorite Halo-halo.

Jen had me tried her choice knowing I will blog about it and it’s just the creamiest I’ve tasted, the strong hint of corn is so natural.

My halo-halo came later than Jens’, I watched them painstakingly preparing it and its’ even prettier than the advertised picture.

Typically, the actual one is less prettier than the advertisements, so hats-off to the one who prepared my halo-halo! =)

The topped toasted rice crispies added a different flavor, and of course, what I love most is the dominance of the ube and leche flan. The rest of the ingredients like lanca and saba are just good enough for me. As most of the time, I just left the other ingredients of the usual Halo-halo. However, I’m quite “bitin” (not that satisfied) with the concept of “Razon’s” with just saba and macapuno on it.

We spotted a Mexican restaurant nearby, and intend to try it soon. Then, we go back here to try the unique flavors of their gelatos. =) You might just want to treat yourself the sweeter Manila way too. =)

Larcy’s Cupcakery – Mastering the Art of baking cupcakes…

Larcy’s Cupcakery – Mastering the Art of baking cupcakes…

I would definitely love it to get a head start and fill my surroundings with pretty things I love. To start off, we found a place in my favorite color, then we shop for some girly and vanity stuff and then head to this shabby chic spot at Aguirre street and voila, I fell in love with the hearts in all sizes and all shades of pink which you will find all over the place. We were at Larcy’s place. All pink and pretty.

Second floor is under-going renovation.

To be honest, with all those lovely and dainty cupcakes, we really had a hard time choosing what to have. Jen even wants to get everything with a sugared heart on top, whatever is pretty, she will go for it, though we opted to get their recommendations and had limit our choice to the list of best sellers.

Not bad at less than a hundred..

Of course, my own blueberry cheesecake is included in the list, however, they ran out of it, and they’re currently baking it. In all fairness, they apologized and asked if we can wait for less than an hour as of course they bake it in batches.

Baking area… Where’s my blueberry cheesecake? =)

We thanked them for the offer, we know that we can’t wait that long so we got the others from their list.

We had the following:

Rocky road for me!

Chocolate brownie overload..

Caramel for Ms. Caramel!

And pair them with two of their drinks:

Iced mocha for Jen and latte for me..

The ambiance of their store if I can use the term “happy”.

As more guests are coming, everyone is at their best, smiles on their faces and laughter with their friends or families. Like we did.

Even their attendants, their being “nice” isn’t canned and the initiative to do something in order to please the guest is innate in them. Reading people’s actions seems to be their turf. One attendant offered us to utilize a stand fan since the air-conditioning unit couldn’t accommodate the whole place, it isn’t defective, it is just so scorching hot during that afternoon.

And another attendant while we were taking photos, volunteered that he take a picture of us on that awesome wall with the logo of Larcy’s with hearts in all shapes.

Can it be considered a mural?

They also served us glasses of iced water due to the fact that the temperature is awful as if despite of it, they all wanted their guests to enjoy their stay at Larcy’s.

We actually did, and in most of my blogs, I often say, I’m gonna come back here, We’re going back here, etc, etc. And I’d like to say it again, we’re definitely going back here. Larcy’s is without a doubt addicting.
